Since taking his monastic vows at the age of 21, Tyagi Shurjo has committed his life to the goal of self-realization. Shurjo serves in joy to spread the message of Paramhansa Yogananda and kriya yoga wherever he goes.
- Yoga Philosophy
Tyagi Shurjo has been my teacher for a long time now, but even so, attending his each class is a new experience. Shurjo is so deep in his concepts and knowledge but the way he presents it to us is so practical and simple that even a layman will connect to what he is trying to convey. The one thing I feel Tyagi Shurjo does best, is his ability to lead by example. Every day I see him living by what he teaches, which makes it much easier to then follow and implement those principles in my life.
Tyagi Shurjo’s depth of spiritual knowledge and his complete self-offering to his Guru is truly inspiring. Many of us are on the same path, but we fail to put into practice what we have learnt from our great Gurus. Not so with Shurjo - right from his posture, his speech, the points he makes during discussions, everything is reflects Yoganandaji's teachings. Aside from him, I haven't yet met someone so young with such a vast store of wisdom and knowledge. He plays both harmonium and guitar and its a divine experience to hear him chanting. He is the only one who I have heard speak for 30 minutes, without ever losing the flow of ideas, while also keeping the talk very interesting. In short, he is a wonderful guide, a superb practitioner of Yogananda's teachings, an awesome speaker and a divine musician - all rolled into one!
I have had the privilege to learn meditation and yoga techniques under Tyagi Shurjo’s guidance. The hallmark of his teaching style is the ability to break down complex concepts into simple, practical and easy to follow steps. What helped me the most is that his classes were filled with practical and relatable examples of how we could practice the yoga techniques in our daily lives. It is under his guidance that I learnt how to live the spiritual teachings and not merely know or understand them.
I have attended many sessions on self transformation and work-life balance but nothing has helped me until I came across the sessions by Tyagi Shurjo. They were completely upto the mark, providing a very practical approach towards situations, our reactions to them, and how to, through that, live a balanced and happy life. Being in the corporate world for around 15 years I can say that it has especially helped me to change my professional life.
Tyagi Shurjo has a very practical approach to sharing the scientific yogic teachings and concepts of Paramhansa Yogananda. His interpretations and explanations of the mediation techniques, and especially his commentaries on the holy scriptures are very well structured and backed up with many of his own transformative experiences which ignites the will power, confidence and inspiration joyfully practice these techniques and evolve as better, more energetic, productive and happier versions of ourselves!
The workshops offered by Tyagi Shurjo has been very helpful to me. It has finally given me the right clarity on the concept of meditation and how to implement it practically in my every day life. I always look forward for every session with Tyagi Shurjo.
The 3 years of spiritual learning from Tyagi Shurjo has been tremendous. It has been especially helpful for young people to resonate with him, that spirituality is not some thing that has to be pursued in old age. More than that the energy, enthusiasm and insight that he brings to the table with his personal journey is very powerful. He models for us how the spiritual path is a lifestyle and not a practice to be done 1 or 2 hours a day. How to be a disciple with all our strengths and weaknesses and how to overcome them is also a great lesson I take from him.
